How will COVID-19 affect my tattoo appointment?

The studio has made some changes due to COVID - 19. Please check out the below page for more information on the changes we have made and what to expect from your appointment

https://www.toothandclawtattoos.co.uk/covid-19

How much do you charge?

We work on an hour / day rate, prices vary depending on artist.

How far in advance should I book?

Availability will differ for each artist. It's best to give us a call so we can tell you how long the wait is for each artist.

How do I get a quote?

For a quote we recommend sending an email or Facebook message explaining your idea. Please include as much detail as you can including a reference images, would you like it colour or black and grey, a picture of the area, where you want the tattoo, how big in centimeters and which artist you would like to book in with so we are able to help.

What happens if I need to cancel?

We have a 1 week notice policy for appointments if you would like to change, rearrange or cancel your booking. If do not notify us with at least one weeks notice before your appointment you will loose your deposit and be asked to place a new one for subsequent appointments. This also applies to free tattoo touch ups, and piercing check up appointments. Please note all deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Do you take cards?

This is dependent on the artist. Please bring cash to your appointment if you are booked in with Lois or Paula.

Do you sell Gift Vouchers?

They're back! You kept asking for these so they have been re added to the website. Vouchers are non-refundable and expire 1 year after purchase. These must be used before then expiry so make sure you book in as soon as you get them as sometimes artists can be booked up months in advance. These can be used for anything in the studio including deposits.

Is there parking?

You are able to use the free parking outside the studio however there is limited space. Please note that the car park can be busy during school hours so please allow extra time around 3pm.

Can I use numbing cream?

No, if you come to your appointment without discussing this with your artist prior to you appointment you may be turned away and will lose your deposit. This is because numbing cream can affect how you tattoos heal, cause allergic reactions and even in rare cases chemical burns.

I'm taking medication, can I still be tattooed?

Depending on the medication you are taking you may still be ok to get tattooed. Some medications can put you at risk of complications so please let us know when booking. If you are taking certain medications we may not be able to tattoo you so please let us know with plenty of notice to avoid disappointment.

Is there public transport nearby?

If you need to use public transport to get to the studio Rochford train station is around a 10 minute walk away and the Roche Avenue bus stop is directly outside. Please give us a call if you would like more information on public transport.

Are your tattoos vegan?

Most of our materials are vegan, but there may be a few that aren’t. If you let us know that you would like your tattoo to be vegan then we can arrange this for you and recommend aftercare.

Do you use white ink?

We do not do white tattoos. White is used to highlight tattoos and does not work as a main colour.

Can I go swimming after getting a tattoo or piercing?

You cannot go swimming for the first week after getting a tattoo or piercing. This is because you will be exposed to bacteria which can lead to an infection and the chlorine can affect your tattoo. We would advise leaving it for as a long as possible before submerging your tattoo but you need to allow a week minimum to allow your tattoo to heal.

Can I go on holiday or use a tanning bed before/after getting a tattoo?

If you are going on holiday you will need to leave at least 2 weeks healing time as the sun can damage your tattoo. Getting sunburn on holiday then having a tattoo will be very painful and makes it harder to tattoo you. Artists may turn you away if you are sun-burnt and you could lose your deposit. If you are going swimming in the sea or a pool it will also mean you are exposed to bacteria. Use a high factor sun lotion when your tattoos are exposed to the sun to avoid damaging them. Do not use tanning beds but if you choose to do so then cover your tattoo.

What if my tattoo drops out a little? Do you offer touch ups?

Our artists offer 1 free touch up if needed as long as you return within 3 months but it is at their discretion. They may charge if it is outside of the three month cut off or the correct aftercare was not followed. Please contact the studio for more information.

Can you be tattooed if you are under 18 if you have parental consent?

Under ‘The Tattooing of Minors Act 1969’, it is illegal to Tattoo anyone under the age of 18, even with parental consent.

“It shall be an offence to tattoo a person under the age of eighteen except when the tattoo is performed for medical reasons by a duly qualified medical practitioner or by a person working under his direction, but it shall be a defence for a person charged to show that at the time the tattoo was performed he had reasonable cause to believe that the person tattooed was of or over the age of eighteen and did in fact so believe.”

How old do I have to be for a piercing?
